Whether it's heaving barrels or long mellow waves; if there's a swell Steve and Sujuh can guarantee to get you on it. He and the crew routinely drive all night to get you to the best possible option by morning, this way if all goes well you're in an uncrowded spot with the wind blowing off shore ALL DAY.
The Skipper
Steve has been working on boats for 37 years and got his start cray-fishing in West Aus. Steve has sailed all through Indonesia and Australia and finally settled down in West Sumatra.
He has explored Timor, Sumba, Sumbawa, and Lombok, been to Bali, past Java, and all around Sumatra.
Your satisfaction is our priority
For him, the priority is safety and customer satisfaction. How do you get customer satisfaction? The Katika crew will look out for your every need and they will do it with a smile.
Making sure your cabin is cool, clean, and comfortable; the boat is kept clean inside and out; your stomach stays full with hearty food to keep you going in the surf; are just some of the things you can plan on taking for granted when you come out on Katika.
Experienced surf guides
Sujuh, the surf guide, prides himself in being one of the best at keeping the dinghy in the best spot in the channel to take video. And most importantly getting you the most time in the waves you want to surf.
Sujuh was the first surfer from Nias' famous Lagundri Bay to start working on surf charter boats in the Mentawais. He's been working on Katika for 10 years+ and also has a Captain's License.
