Katika underwent a major refurbishment at the end of 2001 season and in the 2003/04 off-season has just had over A$100,000 spent on improvements including new air conditioning, refrigeration, teak work throughout and behind the scene mechanical enhancements etc.
In the 2004/05 off-season she is having 6ft! added to the stern and an extra generator added. Also the gearbox is being switched out and a new propeller fitted; the combination of that and the new engine and Steve hopes to get average speeds of 8 knots+.
